SUPPORT WORKER

We are looking for kind, compassionate, empathetic people to work with Adults with Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Communication difficulties and Autism in a variety of settings. (Our Resource Centre in Margate, in Service Users own homes and at our caravan in Seasalter, Whitstable.)

As a Support Worker, you will be helping people to truly get the most out of life, by offering all the support they need, providing them with ongoing care and supporting them to achieve targets and new experiences which help them live life to the full.

At New Horizons, the Service Users are at the heart of everything we do. We would need someone who is committed to providing the best quality of care to those we look after.

Ideally we'd love to hire someone with previous experience working setting or someone who has relevant qualifications NVQ in Health & Social Care or equivalent, but above all, you’ll be passionate for caring for others, and will always put their safety and welfare first.

What We Need…

You need to be kind, compassionate, caring and hardworking

Full driving licence- We are specifically looking for DRIVERS who are happy to use their own car if needed

Experience of working in a care setting is preferred but not required.

Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent is preffered but there will opportunities for this

During the interview process, we’ll need to see you demonstrate empathy, respect and compassion by answering interview questions and scenarios related to the job role.

VOLUNTEERING

Are you a kind, reliable person? Are you patient? Can you support and encourage others to achieve their goals? Can you work in a professional way? Do you have empathy and understanding of people, their needs and their wishes? Do you find yourself with a lot of free time? Do you think you have skills that could benefit our Service Users? Do you need some experience in the Health and Social sector?

 

We are looking for Volunteers to support people with Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Communication difficulties and Autism at our Resource Centre, other day services, people's homes and in the community. The successful applicant will be a caring and compassionate person with a great sense of responsibility and a commitment to help enhance people's lives. ​

 

We have previously had students from Kent university who have gained valuable experience with us, which has enabled them to move onto jobs such as: Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physio Therapists, specialists in Autism, Mental Health Nurses, Learning Disability nurses etc.

We also take on students every year from East Kent or Canterbury college who are training in Health and Social Care. We give them the skills and experience to be able to not only pass but understand all aspects of their qualification. We received a certificate in 2015 from East Kent college thanking us for our support.

 

We already have a brilliant staff team, and would love to find the right candidate who just 'fits in'. Even if you have never done this type of work before, if you think you fit these specifics please do not hesitate to apply. Full enhanced DBS and full training given and updated regularly. Successful applicant must either drive and have own vehicle to use for work or be able to use public transport to, from and during work.
